To Breathe a Forest

Hyytiälä Forest Station, solo, (2024)

A large wall mounted artwork on delicate Japanese paper. The 6 artworks, composed of painting, drawing and Chine Collé are produced using various techniques incorporating frottage and painting. The mixed media artwork, printed on delicate Japanese paper, responds to the different stages of the life cycle of the common pine tree and its merging into the soil and atmosphere as part of the carbon cycle. It expresses the slow changes and communication of forest elements such as trees with other life forms.
